Merry Christmas Everybody

Merry Xmas Everybody - from Zoë

What a fantastic year it’s been for Zoë, so many highlights, so much achieved and so many wonderful people she’s met along the way.

Still recovering from another bout of tonsillitis, she put together this gentle version of Slade’s classic, Merry Christmas Everybody, collected a bunch of photos that represent just some of what’s happened and folk we’ve met and made this little video.

And you can now download a high quality mp3 of this song! Simply complete this form.

We’ve not managed to include everybody and every event, so please accept our apologies if we’ve missed you out. I promise we have not forgotten you. It’s been such a memorable year.

If next year has just a fraction of the excitement of this, it’ll be wonderful.

Zoe is “The Voice of Spring Fling”

Each year Dumfries and Galloway hosts one of most successful open studios event of its kind in Scotland. Spring Fling 2012 takes place from 2 – 5 June and in celebration of its 10th birthday will host a four day event. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get behind the scenes of the studios of artists and makers whose doors are not usually open to the public, try your hand at a new skill or simply hop from studio to studio through some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery.

This year Spring Fling have commissioned a video from the very talented Picto Productions, the company who made Zoë’s video for ‘35 Missed Calls’ and Zoë was asked to write and perform the soundtrack.

Spring Fling were so delighted with the result that they have named Zoe “The Voice of Spring Fling” ~ the video has been played in venues around the region and on Saturday 2nd June to Zoë will herself be doing a ‘mini tour’ to sing in a number of studios and venues on the Spring Fling trail.

Her tour kicks off at 11 am at The Mill on the Fleet in Gatehouse.

You can catch her at 1pm in Kirkcudbright at WASPS – Cannonwalls & Claverhouse Studios

At 3pm she will have the pleasure of singing in The Gallery at Laurieston

The tour culminates with a performance at the Spring Fling Ceilidh in Castle Douglas from 7pm.

Official Video of 35 Missed Calls

How utterly cool is this? With just two weeks to go before the release of her first single, 35 Missed Calls, here is the video. This is what Zoe had to say about it,

“Having my own music video is amazing, I’m so excited. It was very cold when we were filming, but a lot more fun than I expected.

“It’s not easy having to mime even though it’s your own song.

“The best bit was seeing it all come together and thinking ‘WOW’

“Shaun and Jessica [Picto Productions] are AWESOME! They were really good to work with and are such nice people. They both have great ideas and are so clever.

“I just hope everyone likes the finished video as much as I do.”

Let us know what you think.

Making my first music video

A couple of weeks ago I filmed my first ever professional music video.  It’s for my first single, 35 Missed Calls which should be released in a few weeks.

And, later on today I’m getting a sneak peak at the finished video. I am really excited.

The filming was a lovely experience although it was VERY cold and sometimes wet, and sometimes extremely muddy. Jessica, the film’s producer had developed a really nice story for the video and it involved me skipping around our local countryside in Wellington boots and a beautiful Victorian style nightgown. But it was so cold that I had to wear a woolly hat and a poncho, diving into my Dad’s big winter coat between takes.

Other shots had me in a different outfit, singing to the camera with my ukulele. Costume changes in a van wasn’t the most pleasant of experiences but I was told ‘you have to suffer for your art’ ha ha.

I can’t wait to see the finished results after Jessica and her partner, Shaun have edited all the bits together. And I can’t wait for you to see it too. If you’re not already subscribed to this blog, make sure you do by entering your email address in the form on this page and you’ll be the first to know when the video’s live.

I’ve got to give a huge thank you to my Mum and Dad for keeping me warm during the filming and carrying all the stuff. They’ve got jobs as roadies when I do my first tour!

And big thanks to Distilled Records and Jessica and Shaun for letting me realise my dreams.

Zoë x
