“Perfectly placed to provide some revealing teenage insights, 14 year old Zoe Bestel writes fantastic songs, plays ukuele and sings like an angel. However you look at it, her debut EP 35 Missed Callls is about as perfect a pop record as is possible, for writing, performance, and production perfectly mesh.”

“My up and coming find of the festival was a 14 year old by the name of Zoë Bestel. Zoë was first up in a pretty busy acoustic tent and she completely held the audience with a really great voice, some great songs and some pretty decent ukulele playing to boot. She certainly has that modern female singer-songwriter feel about her that seems to be everywhere at the moment, but she manages to make it her own, take the genre in her own direction and stick her neck out above the crowded stream. I think what impressed me more than anything was her confidence. So young yet so commanding, I’ll wager anyone this young lady will go very very far.”

“When I first read that she was a ukelele player, I almost wrote her off. I’m glad I didn’t. This 15 year old singer/songwriter/ukelele player has more brilliance and talent than many twice her age. I was blown away.”

Lori Gordon, music journalist at Celtic Connections (Jan 2013)

“With a lyrical maturity and wry sense of humour that betrays her tender years, Zoë Bestel’s 35 Missed Calls is an audial treat that everyone can relate to regardless of age or gender. This is a fantastic first effort from a brilliantly talented young lady and she’s definitely worth keeping an eye on in the future!”

“They also boasted an infant phenomenon in the form of Zoë Bestel, a 14 year old who sang a heartbreaking ditty she’d written herself about unrequited love. She was a worthy winner. I told her not to take the first offer, no matter how good it is, and I hope she follows my advice. She’s destined for stardom.”

“The fact that she is 14 is amazing but I have to say the thing that impresses is the songs, the voice, the assurance in what she’s doing and these would impress me at any age. The fact that’s she is 14 just makes me think “If she’s this good already how great will she be in a few years.”

“We’re so delighted to have found such a young and natural talent on our doorstep. She performs with all the poise of someone twice her age, and her song writing is direct and lyrical … she does simple beautifully, and sings like a wee angel”

“For someone of only 14 years of age, Zoë has a voice, composure and a lyrical ability that many a pop star could only dream of.”
