Wigtown Book Festival: What a Successful Weekend!

Saturday night, after working hard all day in the children’s marquee at Wigtown Book Festival, I went along to Wigtown’s Got (More) Talent. After singing 35 Missed Calls (and loving every moment) I sat down and watched the other acts, couple of stand ups, miming, more singing and a dutch rapper. It was a fantastic event and I’m sure everyone else who was there enjoyed it as much I did.

So, after a long and painful wait (around 15 minutes long LOL) the winner was announced…

I am very please to report the winner was…

*drum roll*

ME!

~~~
Fast forward to Sunday, after another day working I was invited to sing at DisComBoBuLatE that evening. It was brilliant, really felt at ease and was the least nervous I have ever been. Other acts were fab too a few from the night before that I enjoyed all over again. So here it is:
Fantastic Weekend, cannot wait ’till the next!
Latest Gig Booking – Supporting Emily Smith
Venue: The Plainstanes, High Street, Dumfries
Date & Time: Saturday, 10th September 2011 from 6.00pm
Cost: FREE
Emily Smith - Photo by Simon LeesFollowing my appearance at The CatStrand, I’ve been asked to do an open air gig in September and I wanted to tell you about it.
I’m so excited to say that I’ll be supporting one of Scotland’s most famous (if not THE most famous) folk singers, Emily Smith.
Emily’s in the middle of her UK tour and she’s doing this free-to-attend open air gig at The Plainstanes in the centre of Dumfries. This is her home county so I’m sure there’ll be lots of home support for her – it’s really exciting and I’m so pleased to have asked to support.
If you can come along I’d love for you to give me a wave and a cheer – I’ve got to admit to being a little bit nervous but excited at the same time.
I’m hoping also to perform a brand new song of mine that I’ve not quite finished writing at the moment, so you’ll be the first to hear it – that’s if I get my act together and finish it in time!
I can’t wait and I’m really looking forward to meeting Emily and maybe you too.
Hope to see you there.
OXJAM Galloway gig at The CatStrand
Last night I had an absolutely amazing time at The CatStrand, New Galloway, performing a twenty minute set in front of a very fantastic, enthusiastic crowd.  I was one of 8 acts including loads of local musicians and BMX Bandits star, Duglas T Stewart who was very funny and entertaining.
35 Missed Calls, is my latest song and this was the first time I’d sung it live so I was a little bit nervous, but I think it was most people’s favourite.
I finished the set off with a cover of Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” which I really enjoyed singing- and for those of you who know the song as it was originally recorded, my version is without the swearing!!
Make sure you subscribe to this blog ( <—– over on the left, at the top) and you can find out when I’m next playing live.
This is What I Got Up To at The Weekend
Last weekend I had my first ever gig performing my own songs. I’ve sung in front of an audience before but never with my own material. Although I was very nervous, and made the odd little mistake, I think it went really well and I was well pleased.
My Mum and Dad sat in the front row and my Dad videoed it and I put it up on my YouTube channel.
And the second one…
It’s a lovely venue, Faed Gallery at Gatehouse of Fleet Mill and it was part of the Midsummer Music Week, but they hold Mill Sessions every month so well worth checking them out.
I must thank Susi Woodmass for inviting me.
